In previous Wrap Ups I called for Open Source Delivers’ readers to take the Future of Open Source Survey. An impressive 740 people helped shape the future of open source, and the results were presented at this week’s Open Source Business Conference (OSBC) in San Francisco. Before we get into other open source news from this week, here is a sample of some of the blogs and articles covering the Future of Open Source results:
- Survey sponsors, 451 Research, published a blog by Jay Lyman, “Future of Open Source Survey Highlights Progress, Changes, Challenges.”
- On Linux.com, Libby Clark reported on the results in her article, “Survey: Open Source Adoption Rises, Drives Innovation.”
- “Open source celebrates the freedom to leave” was Simon Phipps’s perspective on the survey results in his InfoWorld article.
- Paula Rooney published “Open Source Driving Cloud, Big Data, Mobile, Survey Finds” on ZDNet.
Now, onto more open source highlights from the week:
- Brian Proffitt reported on Jim Whitehurst’s OSBC keynote presentation in his ITWorld article, “Red Hat CEO: The Nuts and Bolts of Open Source.”
- On OStatic, Sam Dean wrote about up-and-coming open source hardware projects in his blog, “Open Source Machines: New Ideas Are Arriving.”
- Eric Brown reported on the Chinese government approving Google’s acquisition of Motorola Mobility and its implications in his Linux.com article, “China Blesses “Googarola” and Open Source, Too.”
- On The H, Fabian Scherschel reported on the ODI receiving significant financial support from the UK government over the next five years, “UK government supports Open Data Institute with £10 million.”
