Welcome to “Open Source Delivers”!

Open source software has truly gone mainstream in the past decade, and is now a mainstay of development in software companies, electronics and embedded systems, digital media, and increasingly, in enterprises’ IT applications.  The advances of the past few years have been incredibly rapid, and effective use of open source in software development can indeed enable simultaneous improvements in time-to-solution, innovation, and software costs.  Despite this, we talk to clients all the time who are hungry for more information on best practices, others’ experiences, and trends in open source use.

With the Open Source Delivers blog, we hope to help address this continued interest in the exciting evolution of open source software as a catalyst for business innovation for enterprises large and small, in every industry under the sun. Our primary goal is to create an exciting and vibrant dialogue around the issues, trends and innovations enabling wider adoption of open source software by organizations, developers and their communities.

You’ll find a wide array of content here in the form of news, opinion, best practices, tips and important community milestones. We hope this site will serve as a hub of expert commentary from open source influencers dedicated to innovation in today’s multi-source development environment.

We’re honored to already have great posts published on Open Source Delivers from Ian Skerritt of the Eclipse Foundation, Gil Yehuda of Yahoo!, Steve O’Grady of Red Monk, and Bill McQuaide of Black Duck Software . Other open source experts coming soon to this blog include Rob Blasi of Goodwin Proctor, Claus von Riegen of SAP, Mark Radcliffe of DLA Piper, and many others.

We’re eager and excited to bring on additional contributors, so please contact us if you’d like to submit post ideas and suggestions, and contribute to the dialog.  We’d also appreciate your comments and feedback as we work to grow an engaging, fun, dynamic and, at times, even controversial Open Source Delivers community.

Thanks, and enjoy!
